The pandemic has changed the way that the world looks, functions and operates. The legal and arbitration community has also experienceddisruption with almost 95% of arbitration hearings now being virtual. Physical hearings are sometimes being conducted primarily for cross examination of witnesses, and little else.Owing to the second (of possible multiple) waves in India and across the world, we have come to understand that we are going to have to live with the implications of COVID longer than originally anticipated.
While physical hearings may start to see a come back in some form after the Covid cases dip, all indicators point to the fact that virtual/hybrid hearings are here to stay.
I believe we, at MCIA, must continue to bring innovation to arbitration in India. The behavioral changes and outcomes we have demonstrated thus far with establishing MCIA, in a short span of 5 years, stands testament to this belief.
Keeping with how the world around has changed, and the need for connected, private, accessible hearing rooms, we are happy to report our collaboration with WeWork for arbitration hearing facilities.
The MCIA X WeWork Collaboration for arbitration spaces:
- MCIA clients will now have access to all 35 WeWork spaces across 6 major cities in India. All WeWork spaces globally will also be available, subject to availability.

- Each location has a dedicated unit for stationery, printing, shredding, coffee/tea/beverages as well as snacks. Specific spaces and food caterers have been identified to ensure a wide range of food that may be made available.
- Preferential rates have been agreed on for arbitration hearing facilities. All payment will be made directly to WeWork, however, toensure ease of booking and usage,MCIA will be the single point of contact.
